“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.” — Orhan Pamuk

Meet Will

When you combine a structured, science-based training approach with the experience that comes from growing up on a farm with 14 dogs, you gain a deep understanding of what makes dogs tick — what motivates them, why they sometimes “misbehave,” and how to replace unwanted behaviours with ones that set them (and their owners) up for success.

Even as a very young child, I remember the joy I found in spending time with my dogs. I believe everyone deserves to enjoy life with their best friend, which is why I founded Balto Canine. I love helping people better understand their dogs and, ultimately, improve the quality of life they share together.

My Experience

As well as being lucky enough to have shared my life with 2 Border Collies, 3 Cocker Spaniels, and 9 Jack Russells, I have trained extensively with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). My education includes study of canine aggression, puppy development, and learning theory, alongside multi-day practical courses working hands-on with large and high-energy breeds such as Rottweilers and American Pit Bulls.

Canine behaviour and dog training are my passion. I am continually reading, learning, and refining my skills to hone my craft and strive to be a world-class trainer and behaviourist, delivering the very best outcomes for both dogs and their owners.

What Sets Balto Canine Apart

Dog-First Approach

I focus first on understanding the dog in front of me — what motivates them, what they find challenging, and how they experience the world.

My training is rooted in modern behavioural science and built around clear communication, fairness, and empathy. By prioritising a dog’s welfare and emotional wellbeing, we create lasting behaviour changes.

Long-Term Relationships

I’m not just here for the now. I love creating lasting relationships with clients and growing with them over time.

By supporting clients beyond the initial training period, I can offer guidance, reassurance, and ongoing support whenever it’s needed.

Proven Process, Flexible Execution

I combine a proven, structured training process with the flexibility to adapt to each dog and their situation.

This balance ensures training is effective, practical, and tailored — giving dogs clear guidance and owners the confidence to apply it in everyday life.
